About the Artist

Fred Williams, smooth jazz – contemporary praise and worship saxophonist; is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and now makes Augusta GA. home. Influenced as a young teen while listening to a saxophonist perform with the Southern University Band little did he know he to would find himself on that very campus in the midst of upcoming artist such as Branford Marsalis, and Donald Harrison.

Fred began playing the saxophone as a young teen and was quickly drawn to jazz; listening to artist such as Grover Washington Jr, David Sanborn, Ronnie Laws and Kenny G .

Fred has been heard throughout the CSRA as a featured artist during the Westobou Festival, the Augusta Canal Sunset Cruises, the N.A. Summer Music Series, and the Columbia County Jazz Series. He also takes time to give back to the community by supporting organizations such as the Alzheimer’s Association.

Fred recently released “Day Trip” a CD consisting of his own smooth jazz arrangements. At the request fans Fred has also delivered by putting together a compilation of holiday classics; the result “Christmas Joy – Christmas Jazz”.

Whether out front center stage, or casually in the background Fred has the unique ability to put his audience at ease by providing an environment where everyone is able to enjoy, and engage in the event as well as the music.
